St. Gabriel's Hall is a school for the care and rehabilitation for delinquent boys. Archbishop Ryan announced plans for what was initially known as the Philadelphia Protectory for Boys in 1895. The first resident was admitted in November, 1898. The Protectory was incorporated in 1899. In the 1960's, Cardinal Krol changed the name of the Protectory to St. Gabriel's Hall.
