HOLDS ANNUAL GALA
Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) will hold its Annual Gala on
Dinner 7:30 p.m.
The Crystal Tea Room
(The Wanamaker Building)
Thirteenth and Market Streets
Philadelphia
Attending the Gala will be Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, Chairman J. William Mills, III, (president of PNC Bank), Co-Chairs Gerry Lenfest, (president and CEO of The Lenfest Group) and Pat Ciarrocchi, (KYW-TV news anchor) and business leaders from throughout the greater Philadelphia area.
Entertainment will be provided by students from Bishop Shanahan High School(Chester County) and Cardinal Dougherty High School (Philadelphia), Saint Aloysius Academy (Delaware County) and the All-Catholic Jazz Band. Theater presentations will be provided by students from Archbishop Wood High School (Bucks County) and Archbishop Carroll High School (Delaware County).
The invocation will be delivered by Reverend Timothy Lannon, President of Saint Joseph's University. A special tribute will be paid to Edwin Knetzger, an ardent supporter of BLOCS who passed away last December. Mr. Knetzger's family will be in attendance.
BLOCS is committed to the ideal that all parents who wish to provide their children with a values-centered, Catholic education should be able to do so. The organization relies upon the support of Catholic and non-Catholic business leaders, foundations and individuals to financially assist families in need regardless of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin.
BLOCS has raised $8.7 million for the Catholic Schools since 1998. In the past six years, BLOCS has helped make Catholic schools available to more than 11,000 children.
