The groundbreaking and blessing concludes a nine-year search by Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish for its first church to call home. Since being established in 2000 by Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, then-Archbishop of Philadelphia, parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe have faithfully attended weekend Masses held at Central Bucks East High School. Weekday Masses have been held at the parish office. Two previous proposed site locations were deemed not suitable, for various reasons. Plans are in place for the construction of a 30,800 square feet, 1,200-seat church with adjoining offices at a cost of approximately $10 million. Parishioners have pledged $6.6 million to date toward a goal of $7 million. A construction startup date has not been set.
