SAINT CHARLES BORROMEO SEMINARY TO CONDUCT WALKING PILGRIMAGE TO THE UKRAINIAN CATHEDRAL OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Reverend Monsignor Joseph G. Prior, Rector of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, will lead approximately 150 seminarians, administrators, and faculty members on a walking pilgrimage from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, located in Wynnewood, Montgomery County, to the Ukrainian Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia at 833 North Franklin Street on Sunday, March 14, 2010. This pilgrimage will be a walking journey of approximately 7.5 miles.

This year marks the third time in the Seminary's history that the pilgrimage will be made entirely on foot; the previous pilgrimages were March, 2006 to Saint Peter's Church with the Shrine of Saint John Neumann in North Philadelphia and April, 2008 to the Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia in South Philadelphia. The walking pilgrimage is conducted every two years and is alternated with the Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to the National Shrine in Washington, D.C.

The group will depart the Seminary around 8:00 a.m. with an expected arrival around 10:30 a.m. Divine Liturgy, which will be celebrated in English, is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Editor's Note: The pilgrimage route will follow Wynnewood Road to City Avenue to 54th Street to Wynnefield Avenue to Belmont Avenue to Montgomery Drive to Martin Luther King (West River) Drive to Eakins Oval onto Spring Garden Street to 7th Street to Poplar Street to North Franklin Street ending at 844 North Franklin Street.
