ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA CELEBRATES THE FEAST OF SAINT PETER CLAVER

Most Reverend Dominic Carmon, SVD, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, will be the main celebrant and homilist for Mass honoring the Feast of Saint Peter Claver. He will be joined by many priests, who will concelebrate the Mass. In addition to celebrating the feats day of the Knights of Peter Claver and the Ladies Auxiliary, there will also be special recognition of Religious Sisters and Brothers.

Saint Peter Claver was a 16th Century Spanish Jesuit priest, who dedicated his life to ministry to Africans in South America. He was known to have baptized hundreds of thousands of people in life.

The Mass celebrating the Feast of Saint Peter Claver will take place at the Historic Saint Peter Claver Church, which was dedicated in 1892.
